For many years, Arriscraft stone has been used for the Princess Margaret Lottery show home for its incredible beauty and performance. Discerning builders choose Arriscraft for the realism and authentic stone look that these majestic designs demand.
Check out this $3.7 million beauty in Kleinburg Ontario – part of the grand prize for the 2016 Princess Margaret Cancer Centre Home Lottery. This stunning home features Citadel® Building Stone in Infinity with Onyx.
The bad news – only one family won this official dream home. The great news? You can elevate any home design to become a masterpiece by planning with Arriscraft stone products. Because Arriscraft is a manufactured stone, it is made to install using standard masonry techniques – so you can get the look, feel and performance of natural quarried stone without the costly sourcing and installation.
We recently visited a family in Ontario to learn about their design process and to photograph their charming home that features four – yes that’s right – four Arriscraft products. The owner, Chris, is a masonry contractor and partner in his family’s business, TSC Masonry Limited. So, he knew about Arriscraft and all other stone options before building this home.
“Being in the trade, Arriscraft is my first recommendation. It’s easy to work with and delivers the best finish. And Arriscraft has great flexibility for colour options, colour blending and custom outcomes,” says Chris.
Having developed the initial home design with London designer Phil Alves (Phidelity Design), the owners refined their plan through a number of revisions, planning months in advance. Let’s take a closer look at how this dream team incorporated four Arriscraft products into the finished design.
The main exterior stone choice was Fresco Building Stone, in Silverado. This tumbled stone adds a very authentic, fieldstone charm.
The couple decided to finish the top of the home with Renaissance®, in Birchbark, smooth finish, which adds a unique elegance to this home. Some homebuilders choose stucco, EIFS or synthetic stone to achieve this smooth surface look. These artificial products can be prone to staining or fading, and can require continuous upkeep or painting to keep them looking clean.
Compared to these options, Renaissance® is made with the same materials as our Building Stone, and therefore features the same authentic stone grain, plus equal durability.
We love how this couple combined the rustic Fresco Building Stone with the classic, smooth Renaissance® to create a sophisticated, yet warm, feel. The dark window and door accents add a genuine touch of class!
Another element we particularly appreciate in this home design is the custom colour matched cast accessories. The homeowners chose to colour match the quoins, bullnose sills and keystones to the Renaissance®colour. Arriscraft is the only company which offers colour matching of its accessory products (cast or calcium silicate). The seamless finish definitely elevates the final overall appearance of this house.
Finally, we’d like to point out this stellar corner lot design. When we look at the side of this home, it’s just as charming and intricate as the front view. The homeowners used Arriscraft’s Tumbled Vintage Brick for the top portion of the house. Unlike clay brick, Arriscraft brick is manufactured with the same natural materials as our Building Stone and Renaissance®. The complementary colour and the authentic stone grain of this brick make it a smart choice for this design.
We hope you are inspired by this great design story and the incredible outcome of this ‘Arriscraft’ home. We’d like to tip our hat to our area rep, George Winsor, for his important consultation in selecting the products and colours for this show-stopping home.
