The new Canadian anti-spam law takes effect on July 1, 2014. The intent of this law is to protect consumers from receiving unwanted or fraudulent electronic communications. (Click here for more information.) An important element of this legislation is that electronic messages cannot be sent without the recipient’s consent.
As a business you may find yourself in a position where you send customer emails. A web search on the subject will show numerous publications and opinions, and the task of getting geared up for the new law may seem daunting. The Government of Canada’s website features helpful and succinct information. We highly recommend a read if you feel this may affect your communications.
