ARRIS-clip thin stone solution saves building from demolition

A smart renovation plan using Arriscraft’s ARRIS-clip thin stone saved the city of Columbus, OH the cost of tearing down and rebuilding a relatively new building. Originally constructed in 2009, this firefighter training center was suffering catastrophic water damage and the city eventually budgeted for its demolition and replacement. Step in, Mr. Kay Onwukwe, VP and Director of Design and Planning at HKI Associates Inc., who proposed waterproofing and a new masonry rain screen solution. Working with IMI’s Tom Elliott, Mr. Onwukwe specified ARRIS-clip thin stone to reclad the building.

An innovative recladding solution

Available in all Renaissance colours
Available in smooth and rocked finishes

ARRIS-clip calcium silicate thin stone is an ideal restoration or refurbishment system:  this innovative product installs overtop of existing substrates and provides complete rainscreen protection. Only, 1-3/8″ thick, ARRIS-clip tiles are clipped into a steel channel system. In this case, the channels or railings were installed directly onto the existing concrete block walls.

A way to be creative with stone

This versatile system also makes it simple to create distinct patterns by intermingling different unit colours and textures as HKI Associates did for this project.  Part of our Renaissance product line, ARRIS-clip is available in a wide range of colours and in a variety of finishes or profiles.
