Multi-res renovation features ARRIS-tile thin stone
Arriscraft’s ARRIS-tile thin stone with the ProGUARD® DP wall system helped modernize an affordable rental home apartment building in Boston. The 1974 building’s masonry facade renovation included Arriscraft’s ProGUARD concrete board wall system finished with extraordinarily durable and beautiful ARRIS-tile thin stone.
Davis Square Architects worked with Madison Park Development Corporation on extensive renovations to Haynes House, a 131-unit, seven story brick building in the Roxbury community of Boston. Built in 1974, the building needed exterior refurbishment, including updated masonry, 100% window replacement and new storefront building entries, plus other updates throughout the building including life safety system upgrades, energy enhancements, accessibility improvements and common area upgrades.
A smart solution: ProGUARD® DP Insulated Cement Board
Designers chose Arriscraft’s ProGUARD DP concrete panel wall system finished with ARRIS-tile thin stone for the exterior upgrades. This advanced wall system checks all the boxes for renovation and new construction projects. ProGUARD DP Insulated Cement Board finished with Arriscraft thin stone meets new energy code continuous insulation requirements (ASHRAE 90.1, SB-10, IECC). In addition to an excellent fire rating, this high performance thin-clad wall system from Arriscraft meets even Florida’s tough High Velocity Hurricane Zone building code requirements.
ProGUARD DP Insulated Cement Board is a combined system that eliminates the separate steps of the drainage plane, insulation, wire lathe and mortar bed. Because the cement board and insulation board are laminated together, ProGUARD DP features ¼” cement board (rather than ½”) for a lighter weight assembly versus traditional systems. The cost of the ProGUARD DP system is more than offset by the reduction in installation labour; it generally requires one third of the labour time and cost.
