In case you find yourself in Ottawa this spring, we wanted to share a special park that is close to our hearts – especially this month, Daffodil Month. The Cancer Survivors Park is located on 4.5 acres in the heart of Ottawa (at the cross-section of Alta Vista Drive, Industrial Avenue and Riverside Drive).
For the main monument section, CSW Landscape Architects Limited selected Arriscraft Adair® limestone – delivering a permanence that appropriately reflects the resolve and strength of cancer survivors. The park also features a sculpture of eight life-size figures passing through a maze representing cancer treatments and different inspirational pathways.
Completed in 2010, the park in Ottawa was the 2nd in Canada and the 24th in North America. Over 20 years ago, Richard and Annette Bloch committed to create survivor parks in major cities, each as “a memorial and tribute to life”.
