Most seem to be in agreement: 2016 design trends will allow us to take a deep breath and simplify our surroundings. No hard hitting punches of color to concern yourself with. Whites, pastels, natural materials and connecting to nature are themes we think everyone can embrace.
Here’s a quick rundown of the chatter around 2016 trends:
This year Benjamin Moore is keeping it simple, literally: Color of the Year – Simply White OC-117. And strangely, it’s not boring.
This warm white sets the stage for a customized palette, whether you prefer strong accents or subtle tones. Plus, white is the ultimate complement for wood, stone and greenery as we embrace bringing the outdoors in.
For the first time ever, Pantone has blended two shades – Rose Quartz and Serenity – as the PANTONE Color of the Year. This reserved, soft, pastel combo is quite a departure from Radiant Orchid and Marsala of the past two years. Sometimes less is more, even if we’re still not quite sure how to use this color.
Dare we say (as the name suggests) that sustainable design is here to stay? For 2016, we are happy to see even more product access and options for both personal and commercial spaces. We came across this great organization that helps you search sustainable products for your design projects: Sustainable Furnishings. Interested in taking your Sustainable design choices even further? The Green Home Institute offers resources to help homeowners make healthier and more sustainable choices for their building projects.
